  • A lot of the insurance information needed can be found on the insurance card. 
     
  • Depending upon where the Patient booked the appointment will determine where you can get their insurance information. 
     
  • If something with the insurance doesn’t make sense, call the Patient to confirm.
     
  • Here are the main actions your doing:
    1. Searching insurance eligibility
    2. Updating Patient demographics
    3. Addressing any possible hiccups

       

📘 Instructions

Make sure not to forget one of these steps. 

  1. First you will gather the Patients insurance information from wherever they booked the appointment from.  

     
  2. Login to the Cigna provider portal

     
  3.  From the homepage, click on Patients > Search Patients

     



 

  1. Enter in the Patients information and search.
  2. The Patient profile should pop up here. Click on the Patient ID to get more info. 

  1. Verify it is the correct Patient and click confirm.

     
  2. To check the coverage details such as copay, deductible, etc. Put coverage status in network.

    8. Select Review general benefits

9.Scroll down until you get to Professional Office Visit (Physician). This will give you all the info needed to see what the insurance coverage for the Patient is. 

10. Now that you have the Patient insurance eligibility, enter the information into the Patient demographics section of the EHR.
